Looking to optimize your nutrition?
You don’t need to be an elite athlete to realize that what you eat impacts your performance. But to effectively optimize your performance, you need information tailored to your unique situation and personal requirements.
Low iron, for example, can have detrimental impacts on endurance. Yet too much iron can have equally detrimental impacts on health. Simply taking vitamin and mineral supplements because you’ve heard someone else takes them—or heard that iron is important for endurance—is not a strategy to optimize your performance.
The best strategy is an individualized assessment based on a blood test. Yeah, nobody enjoys being poked with a needle, but it’s the most accurate way to learn what’s going on inside your body so recommendations can be tailored to your unique profile. With this in mind, Alp Fitness has teamed up with InsideTracker to provide you with the nutritional information you need to optimize health and athletic performance.
InsideTracker is a tool developed by Segterra that involves a series of blood tests analyzing 20 of the most important vitamins and minerals related to optimal performance called biomarkers. Based on the analysis of the biomarkers, InsideTracker creates a personalized Nutrition Recommendation Program tailored to each biomarker within your body.
How will it help you?
Your personalized nutrition recommendations link to a database of over 7,500 different foods and provide you with the recommendations necessary to help improve your biomarkers and overall performance. The recommendations can help you optimize mood, boost energy, improve sleep, enhance performance, and reduce pain and injury.
How do you get started?
- Choose a plan on the InsideTracker website.
- Once you purchase a plan; then schedule an appointment at a Quest Diagnostics facility.
- Take the lab slip provided by InsideTracker to your blood test (after a 12 hour fast).
Receive a 25% discount off all InsideTracker plans when you purchase an Alp Fitness training plan through TrainingPeaks or when you sign up for the Alp Fitness newsletter.
What happens next?
A few days after your blood test, your confidential results and recommendations become available online at your InsideTracker account. You will discover your current readings and how they relate to your optimal levels for each biomarker. You can then make informed decisions about what you put into your body with information on which foods can impact which biomarkers. InsideTracker also provides you with a nutritionally balanced plan for a day’s worth of calories. If you don’t like a particular food, no worries! InsideTracker takes the foods you like and don’t like into account. So you are left with an actionable plan with personalized nutrition recommendations.
How often should I have a new blood test done?
To reach your full potential, InsideTracker suggests you have a new blood test every 3-6 months. This will allow you to monitor your progress and assess your nutritional needs at different points of the year.
